Camille’s story

Camille, 38 and dealing with chronic hypertension, is pregnant with her third child — and her first in nearly a decade. While she’s thrilled about the new addition to her family, she has some apprehension after experiencing challenges during her last pregnancy. This story illustrates how personalized support and guidance from a Quantum Health high-risk maternity (HRM) nurse helped Camille throughout her journey.

Pregnant woman, Camille

Camille learns she is pregnant and schedules a prenatal visit. She contacts her Quantum Health Care Coordinator to confirm her obstetrician is in-network.

Because of her age (over 35) and chronic condition, Camille’s pregnancy is stratified as high risk, and she’ll receive personalized support and guidance from an HRM nurse.

The HRM nurse connects with Camille to congratulate her on the pregnancy, set up regular check-ins, and walk through what Camille can expect throughout her pregnancy and after delivery.

Camille shares concerns about back pain experienced during her last pregnancy, while the nurse listens and shares insights about the best sleeping positions and other tips to manage pain.

During a follow-up outreach call, the HRM nurse asks how her back is feeling and whether she’s been getting enough sleep. Happy to hear Camille is doing well in those areas, they begin exploring best practices around nutrition, exercise and self-care.

During their next check-in, the HRM nurse continues to monitor Camille’s pain and sleep schedule. They also work together to set breastfeeding goals and pick out a breast pump covered by her benefits plan.

Camille gives birth to a healthy baby girl. Her HRM nurse reaches out to congratulate her and complete a mental health and wellbeing assessment, ensuring that both Camille and her new baby are doing well and receiving the care and support they need.
