City of Savannah champions healthcare navigation to boost benefits utilization and health outcomes

Challenge
Improving benefits awareness for every employee
The city of Savannah wanted to increase benefits utilization and awareness. With a small HR team managing a diverse workforce of 2,300 employees, it was a challenge to engage everyone. The city implemented Quantum Health’s industry-leading healthcare navigation solution to guide and support every member with clinical expertise, ensuring they receive the best — and most cost-effective — care possible.
Solution
Stepping into action with the help of a navigation partner
Increasing employee communication
Quantum Health provides all benefits and healthcare communications through an automated system, which is a step forward from the manual communication the city relied on previously. The additional benefits education also led to improved clinical outcomes, with an increase in primary care physician utilization and more members seeking preventive care.
Enhancing mental health and employee productivity
Knowing that 81% of employees seek jobs from employers focused on promoting mental health and wellbeing, the city worked with Quantum Health to raise education and awareness. Members have access to the city’s employee assistance program and virtual resources that make finding the right support easy and convenient. This emphasis on mental health is now a key part of the city’s retention strategies, fostering employee productivity and engagement.
Providing diabetes care coordination
Quantum Health worked to close care gaps by enhancing diabetes education. Every member has access to free nutritional counseling, testing supplies and digital health solutions. Personal Care Guide nurses work directly with members living with diabetes, helping them understand their A1c level and the importance of monitoring blood glucose daily. We help members set attainable goals, increase their health literacy and achieve better outcomes, engaging with 89% of all diabetic members.
